Happy New Years!!!

"The winds of change and circumstance, blow in and all around us; So we find a foothold that's familiar..."
I was driving in the car today and I started listening to the lines of a song I have heard a million times. It's funny how you can hear something so many times and yet you don't realize what you're listening to. I can't believe 2009 is almost over! I would say that I am a person that struggles with change but as much as I hate accepting it, change in the last year of my life has brought on so many things.... It is 4 hours away from bringing in the new year and looking back over 2009 I have so many things to be thankful for!
I have grown so much this past year as a person and I have gained so many new relationships and I have so many great people in my life!

I guess it's a lifelong lesson that we will continue to learn, but in this past year, especially the last couple of months I continue to see how God's timing is everything. "Nothing is impossible with God." This is such a true statement. All the times when we think that the things we do, and the life that we live, goes unseen, God has it all under control. If I've learned one thing in the last year of my life I have realize how much Faith really matters. Jeremiah 29:11 rings so much truth in my life and it's been refreshing to see God continue to unfold his plan in front of me.

It's been a blessing to watch my parents be blessed in their lives for their continued faithfulness. My Dad no doubt is a man of God who lives out his call in life and even if he get's tired, he continues to seek after the vision that God has placed in his life. The church is growing, and GREAT things are happening. My Mom recently got a new job as the Resident Director of Nurses in West at Indian River Estates, and is being blessed over and over. It is cool so how happy they both are and how they can do the things that they want to now. Most of life was all about me and meeting my needs and I am thankful that they can now do some things for themselves that they have always wanted to do.

I am so thankful that God brought me to Trevecca and for the friendships that I have continued to pursue this past year and for all the new friendships I have gained even this year. I no doubt miss some of my friends that graduated and some that didn't come back but God continues to bless my life with great people and mentors. I am also thankful for my wonderful boyfriend. Kinda funny we celebrate one year on new's been a year of growing no doubt but I am thankful for the sweet memories I have with him and for the support he has been in my life. No one said miles were easy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Looking back, I can see God's hand working in my life and I am no doubt blessed!

I am anxious to see what this new year holds. I haven't made any huge new years resolution, but a few things I know that I want to do better at....

haha blogging...writing things down and remember things that are important to me.
Being more thoughtful, sending random cards to people that mean something to me and telling people how I feel
Spend more time playing my guitar
Not be such a procrastinator with school (haha don't I say this every new semester?)
I want to start reading more
Pick up playing the piano more
Start scrapbooking
Watch an entire season of Grey's Anatomy :)
More of a willingness to try new things

These are just a few but the list is longer :)

Happy New Year's Everyone!

ICE! :)

9 degrees !!!!
Our Family went to ICE at the Gaylord Palms hotel last night....Oh brother what a laugh. Parkas, gloves and hats, and ice sculptures, what an adve
nture! It was so fun but it was so cold you had to look fast.

I even got to ride down an ice slide which was pretty cool! My dad had two gloves for the same hand haha it was hilarious. Here's a picture of it!

It was a new adventure for sure and memories that will last a lifetime! Not to mention, we ate at Logans before and man, I must say the macaroni and cheese was amazing! :)

It's sad that the holidays are coming to an end, but it's a blast!

"For unto us a child is born...He is Christ The Lord."

I cannot believe how fast the Christmas season has come and gone. I enjoyed a great few days with both sets of Grandparents and my family. We spend Christmas eve together and went to dinner and then over to First Church of God for a service. It was a
very good service and nice to sit with my whole family and have no responsibilities in the service but to just take a second, catch my breath, and remember the real reason for the season. Later on that night my best friend from High School came over and we exchanged gifts. I was introduced to the pandora world of bracelets and got my own bracelet with a charm that was extremely sentimental. Needless to say the first gift I got for Christmas was very special.

Sweet cinnamon rolls is exactly what I smelt Christmas morning, and that's what we had for breakfast, Homemade Cinnamon Rolls. Yum. Those are the moments I wish I could freeze
in my head and hold on to. Waking up with family there, no worries or stresses with school, just a sweet memory. The day was filled with tons of great food, Turkey, Ham and Chicken for lunch and lots of treats for dessert. I got some fun stuff for Christmas. Some new stuff for my guitar from Matthew, I got some cute clothes, a new jacket, and little odds and ends from my parents as well as a new Blackberry that I am in love with :) But I can honestly say, the thing that I was the most excited about by far, was giving my mom her present. I made this calendar on my computer with pictures of her and I and quotes from our song on every page. This is sentimental for sure but I guess it's because she asks for a calendar every year that I really wanted to get this for her. Needless to say, the smile on her face was worth every second it took me to make it :) I am blessed to have such a great family and this day was wonderful. Mom and I finished off the day, but watching 4 episodes COMMERCIAL free might I add, of Grey's Anatomy. Ah, it was wonderful!

As far as after the Holidays, we have been eating leftovers, and hanging out. We went to makotos for lunch and man, it never gets old. I enjoyed the food so much :) We went car shopping for mom, and I think she is getting a new car tomorrow actually...that's exciting! I played basketball last night again and man I am so outta shape. Really just been enjoying the time off and trying to relax and get ready for next semester :)

I am so blessed to have such a great family! :)

Nothing like Sunday afternoon naps...

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Man...I can't think of the last time I took a Sunday afternoon nap and woke up with nothing pressing on my agenda...and today, it happened. It was great!

Kinda funny how busy we get and we don't realize how tired we are until we actually sit down for a few minutes. It was so nice to go to church this morning, go to lunch with friends, and then come home and take a nap. Everytime I have been home this semester, I leave on Sunday afternoons and I just kept saying I just wanna spend one Sunday at home haha I got my wish today!

Tonight was the All church Christmas Party....I ate more dessert than I should have but it was delicious :)
Went and
played some basketball tonight, and man- it's been Wayyyyyy to long since I've been running. It was fun though. I am pretty tired but I had a great weekend! I enjoyed a day of shopping and a pedicure with my Mom...I must say- there is NOTHING like shopping and laughing with your mom! Matthew came to see me for a few hours on Friday night and I went to a Christmas party at Dave and Deanne's house and then onto the movies to see the Blindside. Um, I needed a whole box of tissues for that one. It was great!

I put a few pictures up from the weekend, but for the first weekend home, it was nice to take a big deep breath and just enjoy being with the people I love. I especially can say I am so thankful for the Vero Beach First Nazarene Family that we have....even though things change more and more everytime I come home, the support and love that they show to my parents and to me, is something that I'm not sure who I'd be without it.

Crazy how fast this time of year flys by...trying to take everything in and not take a single second for granted. Some many times we forget why we do what we do, and we forget when it first became real in our lives.
I'll leave with a quote from a song I haven't been able to get off my mind....

"I wanna go back to when I fell in love with grace....back to the place where I first called Jesus name."

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..

Well not for long...Florida here I come!
It was such a relief today to finish out my semester! yay! Today was a ridiculously busy day with packing, laundry, and cleaning and then tonight me and a few friends went to see the Christmas lights at the Opryland Hotel. It was so fun! Here's a few pictures from the night. Anyways, tomorrow I am beginning the 12 hour journey home for Christmas break! A month off from school, how wonderful(even though i have a few reading assignments) it will be nice for a break. I can't believe how fast the semester flew by, but no doubt a break is needed! I enjoyed the 30 degree weather this week and I tried to soak it all in, because goodbye cold, hello sunshine! Well it's time to finish packing and get some sleep. Big day tomorrow! I'm coming home!!!

It's funny how many times I have caught my self saying recently; If only I knew then that I would miss it this much....and yet I am only 21 years old. The more I think about everything and have been "remembering" funny stories from when I was little, or just silly things that make me laugh like how I used to get my Mom a shower curtain for every event- her birthday, Christmas, anything hah, and she loved it, the more I realize how fast time really does fly. I decided to start this blog to help me look back and remember things in more detail and just to share my life on paper, I find it's easier for me to put things on paper most times here is my attempt to share pieces of my life, and to help me remember things and not take the little life lessons, smiles, and memories for granted.

I can't believe I am less than 24 hours away from finishing my Fall Semester of my Junior year. Junior in college? Are you kidding me? Seems like just yesterday I was a Freshman in High School thinking life had changed so much. Ha, I had no idea. This past semester has been one of the best of my life, but if I could describe it in a word it would be change.

I have not always been the biggest fan of change, however I am learning quite well how to adjust to things. From rooming, to changing majors, to having the majority of my frie
nds graduate last year, to new food places in Nashville that I discovered, this semester has been one of change, but one of the best. Over the summer, I changed my major to Nursing and it was no doubt an open door and a blessing to get accepted into the program at Belmont. I love my Nursing classes no doubt and have enjoyed school over there so much but I have learned some hard lessons in this semester. I am not used to things not being easy for me, as most of my life most things I have done just naturally come, and this semester I feel like I worked harder than I ever have and tried more than I ever thought I would have to but my grades don't completely reflect what I feel is the work I put into it. Needless to say, I have had to hold my head high knowing that I did the best that I could and I did finish well, but this is just the beginning and it's been such a blessing.

PR (Everpraise) this year has been a blast!!!! The new members this year are so fun, and the group clicked well from the start. Our CD came out two weeks ago and it was nice to hear the finished product. We recently sang the National Anthem at a Nashville Predators Hockey Game...probably the coolest thing I have ever done. So I slipped on the rug walking out, but hey I didn't fall, and hopefully no one saw it :

I have made some new friends this s
emester, and spent more time studying than I ever thought possible, but the semester flew by. Somedays I miss the way things were last year, but I would not trade it for the world. I have learned so much over the last few months about myself and just continually thanking God for bringing me to Trevecca. There are no doubt days where I miss playing ball, and my friends and teammates from Southeastern, but I feel like I have a family here, and I love going home, but something about it here, is just right. On a personal note, some great things have happened in my life. God has not only shown me continual guidance as I made some big changes with my major but has shown me more this year than before how his timing is everything. Ever had someone you prayed so hard for and felt like it never mattered? Or maybe think that there is situations that are impossible? I was proven wrong, in many ways over the last couple of months and if anything, I can walk away saying, it truly is not in my timing, but God's.
I have so enjoyed the last few months of my life.

Life on the road, late nights studying, cramming for Health Assessment Practicums, coconut chicken at one of my new favorite places in Nashville, late night trips to Cafe Coco to grab an Iced White Satin with some friends for hours of laughing and talking, spending time practicing my guitar, taking voice lessons for the first time, recording, being a part of Trojan Idol, catching up on all the seasons of Grey's Anatomy now that I'm addicted, visiting my friends who graduated at their "grown up" job, college night every Monday, Ghost tours in Downtown Franklin, Hockey Games are just a few things that I have loved doing this semester.

Now it's time for vacation. After a 12 hour car ride home, it's time to relax, watch the Grinch, spend time with my family, Matthew, my friends and eat lots of goodies!! :) I can't wait!!!
